Often times, we define leadership in ordinary language of ability to lead. In real terms, leadership is more than the common definition of being able to lead. Besides the ability of an individual to lead, leadership is the capability of an individual or politician to inspire and guide to transform other individuals, groups, organizations or society for a good cause.
Indeed, the ever-growing complexity of politics in an increasingly independent world has made leadership, in terms of providing direction and guidance and devising solutions for collective problems, more important than ever.
What then defines a good political leadership? For the purpose of this article, I will bring to fame those traits expected of good leadership as portrayed in the person of Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob.
Having known the significance of education in the world as a lawyer and a one time Pro-Chancellor of University of Benin, Senator Bob is poised to encourage education and skills acquisition in the state amongst the youth, thus, encouraging youth development.
Bob is non-partisan. This is the most important trait as a political leader. Without doubt, he will serve the communities in Akwa Ibom State and help improve them. He will not worry about what parties the electorates are, he will lead without being biased.
Senator Bob is capable of taking decisions and determined to work for the betterment of the electorates; he has the willingness to manage and rectify issues and importantly, stand up for what is right. He will not be worried about his position, power and authority; he will work for the growth of the society and value his citizens.
I will not fail to mention here that Senator Effiong Bob is a successful leader with the five major virtues of discipline, trustworthiness, courage, humaneness and intelligence. This is undisputable.
Having a responsible leader, in the person of Senator Effiong Bob as governor of Akwa Ibom State, come 2023, is important. He will have the power to manage, distribute the economic resources, build relationships with stakeholders and make decisions that can have a great impact on the well-being of the State.
According to Mark Skousen, “We shall never change our political leaders until we change the people who elect them.” Hence, it is important as citizens to elect the right leader to occupy the number one position in the State; a leader who can create transformation in the State. Citizens should also elect a leader considering his ability and capability to make a difference and add value to the society.
After considering what defines good leadership in any political sphere globally, I’ve come to the conclusion that Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob is the right choice of a good leader to lead Akwa Ibom State, come 2023. Let’s vote him in, for a better Akwa Ibom State.
