Profile of Ogun State Commissioner for Housing

Young and dynamic Jamiu Akande Omoniyi was born to the family of late Alhaji  Mudasiru Akanbi and Alhaja Fausat Asakun Omoniyi of Adele compound in Joga Orile in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State. He began his early education at St. Peter’s Primary School,Joga Orile from where he proceeded to Obalaju Secondary School,Joga Orile and later to Command Secondary School,Abakaliki for his secondary education while his quest for educational advancement in life took him to the prestigious Ondo State Polytechnic,Owo now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic,Owo,Ondo State where he bagged the Higher National Diploma (HND)in Accounting. He became Chartered Accountant at a relatively young age and an Associate member of Chartered Institute of Taxation as well as member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). Today,he is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Adequately equipped with academic and professional qualifications, Omoniyi started his work career as an Account Clerk with Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, from 1994 to October 2000. His dedication to duty earned him promotion to the post of Assistant Accountant (Depot Operations) overseeing the company’s 23 branches.

He rose to the position of a Credit Controller, an Executive Management position with responsibility for creating and managing the Company’s credit  functions. In his first year as  Credit Controller, he reduced the company’s credit portfolio by over 70% and at the same time doubling sales performance. Despite being a newly Chartered Accountant in junior cadre, his brilliance and expertise in handling the finances of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc led to his nomination and subsequent confirmation as the anchor of the company’s Transformation Projects handled then by the revered Arthur Anderson &Co.

He resigned honorably from Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc in April 2009 to float his business conglomerate C2Q Holding,a company which has grown in leaps and bounds to the present stage of over N25b yearly turnover. Born out of his passion for people, the estate development arm of Jagunmolu Akande Business Empire has delivered homes to over 5,000 Nigerian families within a 7 year operating life span. All the above he has achieved through an uncommon grace of the Almighty without being indebted to any lender; be it corporate or human.

Having risen from a humble beginning to the pinnacle of success a life story that can be described as” “from grass to grace””, Omoniyi believes in giving back to the people. Born of a bricklayer father and a petty trader mother,he realized that all his achievements were products of the grace of the Almighty.

His immediate communities of Joga Orile,Iboro,Imasayi,Igbogila,Ayetoro,Imeko Afon,Ilara and so on have benefited immensely from his philanthropic gestures in the area of educational assistance to pupils of primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Provision of water borehole and reservoir, provision of free medical services, sponsoring of schools inter- house sports events, renovation of school infrastructures, payment of WAEC and JAMB fees for indigent students, sponsoring of Islamic faithful to Mecca and Medina for Hajj and Umurah and sponsorship of Youths Leadership Summit among others.

Following his decision to join active politics,Akande Omoniyi FCA. pitched his tent with the Progressive arm of Nigerian politics by joining the APC with desire to represent his people of Yewa North/ Imeko Afon at the green Chamber of the National Assembly. He had a brief stay in ADCb before returning to APC. He was appointed Director of Dapo Abiodun campaign Organization (DACO) for Ogun West Senatorial District.

He was appointed as the Special Adviser to Governor on housing in July 2019, the seat he occupied until December,2020 where he was announced as the commissioner and sworn in January,2020. Akande Omoniyi is a devout Muslim,an obedient servant that has been using his substance to honour the cause of Almighty Allah. He is a member of Ansar Ud Seen Society of Nigeria,Joga Orile and Abuja branch.

He’s happily married and blessed with a very promising children. He love’s golfing. He is a member of IBB Golf  and Country Club
