ACIFF CELEBRATES 22 YEARS WITH THANKSGIVING TO GOD

The 22nd annual thanksgiving of the AkwaCross Indigenous Film Foundation, ACIFF, was celebrated in a classical and serene atmosphere on the 22nd of February, 2026.

Hosted by the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, L.C.N., Surulere, Lagos, ACIFF members turned out in their numbers to give thanks to God for His blessings upon them in their chosen careers in the entertainment industry.

Speaking during the Thanksgiving Service as ACIFF members danced out glorifying God, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, (BOT), Sir Uwem Umoh, explained the motive behind the Thanksgiving at L.C.N. He said every year, from the inception of ACIFF, it has been the tradition of the Foundation to come out as a group to offer thanks to God for His faithfulness before starting their activities for the year. He used the opportunity to tell people about the objectives of the foundation, ACIFF.

In his sermon, the host Pastor, Rev. Michael Edet, taking the text of the preaching from Romans 5:12-19.
Explaining further, Rev. Edet said in Adam, we see the tragedy of sin while in Christ, we see the triumph of grace. He emphasized that Christ is the source of our eternal life.

Commenting on the 2026 Thanksgiving Service, the President of ACIFF, Hon. Thessy Whyte said God has been merciful with this Foundation for the past years and her administration has earmarked good plans for ACIFF.

Hon. Whyte added that the year will be loaded with activities. She noted that she has lined up activities for members this year to include professional training, production/acting of movies, editing, make-up, etc. She called on every indigene of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States based in Lagos who are willing to make careers in any aspect of entertainment to register with ACIFF in order to begin the journey.

The highlight of the ACIFF Thanksgiving was a good special prayer by the L.C.N. Pastor, Rev. Edet, who prayed that God should enlarge all members of ACIFF in their fields of endeavor. He appreciated the substance presented to the Church by the BOT Chairman on behalf of ACIFF.

Similarly, the Liturgist of the day’s Service, Bro. S.N.U. Mkpese said he was elated by ACIFF’s presence in the Church. Mkpese noted that he learned a lot about the Foundation and asked for God’s protection on all the members.

The P.R.O., Prince Umanah congratulated the BOT Chairman, Sir Uwem Umoh, the President, Hon. Thessy Whyte, the Exco team and all members for a successful outing. He assured that members will benefit so much from the laid down programs of the Executive as led by Hon. Thessy Whyte.

He also thanked the leadership of L.C.N., Surulere for the opportunity to worship in their Church and allowing ACIFF’s Gospel Ministers, G For Christ, Aufu and Bonny Baba to perform during the service.

To grace the occasion was ACIFF Queen, Mrs. Jenny Archibong. Lady Mandu Uwem Umoh was also on ground to support her husband and ACIFF in general. Also present were Mr. Tony Edet & wife, Mr. Emmanuel Eno, Mr. Happiness Frank, Mr. Abraham Akpabio, Inemesit Ebu, amongst other members.

The event came to a close on a high note of togetherness, brotherhood and sumptuous entertainment.
