‎Lagos Correspondents’ Chapel Visits Ghana Consul

The Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abraham Akpabio, led members of the Chapel on a courtesy visit to the Ghana Consulate in Nigeria on Monday, May 18, 2026.

In his remarks, Akpabio hailed the existing cordial diplomatic relationship between Ghana and Nigeria since independence.

‎ The Chairman craved the indulgence of both countries to sustain and improve on the relationship.

Akpabio who used the opportunity to formally present a letter of invitation to the Commission ahead of the chapel’s forthcoming Press Week, asserted that the importance of the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria cannot be overemphasised as it is a vehicle for cementing the relationship between both countries in all ramifications.

‎”We consider Ghana High Commission in Nigeria a key partner in promoting diplomatic relations, cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Republic of Ghana; hence, our visit to as well establish and strengthen a cordial working relationship with the High Commission, explore areas of mutual corporations and enhance effective media engagement, particularly in the coverage of Ghana-related activities.
A hearty congratulations was also extended to Ghana on its recent 69th Independence Anniversary saying, ‘it’s a milestone,’ in the annals of the country’s history.

‎Barbary Entee, Head of the Chancery, Ghana Consulate in Lagos responding, commended the Chapel for the confidence placed on Ghana High Commission and affirmed that it would not renegade on the need to maintain the existing cordial relationship between both countries, but would ensure it was strengthened further.

‎She, on behalf of the Commission accepted the invitation for the Press Week slated for June 27, 2026, while encouraging development journalism practice to ensure a good working relationship between the press and governments for the good of the general public.

‎Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the invitation letter and complimentary plaque to Head of Chancery, Entee.

Other Consulate officials present include Anane-Donfeh Michael, Head Consular; Doris Asetena-Mensah, Trade and Investment and Ernest Brobbey, Consular Welfare.

‎ Correspondents’ Chapel Press Week Planning Committee officials and the Executive Committee members in company of the Chairman on the visitation include Joshua Uloko, chairman; Steve Oma-Ofozor, Acting Secretary and Princess Aladegoroye. Others are Bose Iyabo Aina; Inemesit Ebu; Onome Naomi, Muyiwa Awoniyi,Oluwaseun Taiwo and Jaji Abibat.
