Oyo State Schools Teachers and Pupils regain freedom

The good news many families in Oyo State have been waiting and praying for has finally arrived

The pupils and teachers who were abdvcted from Baptist Nursery and Primary School and Community High School in Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending nearly two months in captiv!ty

For 56 days, their families lived with uncertainty, hoping and praying that their loved ones would return home safely

It was on Friday, 15th May 2026
In the quiet communities of Ahoro-Esiele, Yawota and Alawusa, it was supposed to be a normal school day. Chi|dren had arrived at their classrooms, teachers were carrying out their duties and everything seemed like a regular morning

Until the unexpected happened
A group of heavily armed att@ckers stormed the schools on motorcycles, f!ring into the air and throwing the communities into panic

In that terrifying moment, 46 people were taken away
Among them were 39 schoolchi|dren, including very young pupils, seven teachers and a school principal

The vict!ms were taken deep into the wilderness of the Old Oyo National Park, where they spent 56 difficult days away from their families, schools and the normal lives they once knew

For parents, every day came with questions and fears
For the chi|dren, it was a pa!nful experience no chi|d should ever have to go through

But today, the story has changed
The voices that were once silent in captiv!ty can now be heard again. The chi|dren who left their classrooms in fear are returning home to the people who never stopped hoping for their safe return
